At Pupyl, we believe in foundational education. This involves ensuring a student has mastered prior content before attempting to learn new material. For example, a student must first understand expanding and factorising before tackling quadratics - otherwise, all the new knowledge will have no foundation to stand upon, and will be near useless.
A good education leads to better life outcomes. Australian studies show that there is a clear link between educational attainment and median income. Greater education levels also lend themselves to lower unemployment rates, less financial stress, and healthier behaviours.
We tutor to ensure you are provided with the best education possible, so that you can lead the best life possible.
Hi there! My name is Jacob Collins Hall, and I am a fourth-year student at the University of Adelaide, studying the Bachelor of Medical Studies / Doctor of Medicine program.
I graduated Ocean View College in 2022 as class dux and head prefect. My final mark for Chemistry was A+ (19.80), and for Methods was A+ (19.50). Additionally, I received a Governor's Award (1 of 36 in SA for 2022) for research regarding hydrogels and regularly tutoring peers in Mathematical Methods. Importantly, I have a WWCC, RRHAN-EC, and am first-aid qualified.
I have been tutoring since January 2023. For year levels 7-10, I offer tutoring for all subjects, with a focus on mathematics and science. For years 11-12, I tutor Chemistry, Essential Mathematics, General Mathematics, and Mathematical Methods.
I am thoroughly passionate about tutoring, as I recognize that sometimes all a student needs is some 1-on-1 learning with a teacher to deepen their knowledge considerably. This leads to improved educational outcomes, which lend themselves to beneficial life outcomes. I am patient and understanding with pupils, and work to establish personal connections with them, as to make the learning experience more hospitable.
Sessions are offered through interactive one-on-one lessions delivered on Google Meet, a platform similar to Zoom.
After all sessions, students and their caregivers will receive an email detailing the content covered in that lesson, a PDF copy of the student's workbook, and any homework required before the next session (included when the student is engaged in regular tutoring).
Our rates are straight forward. Tutoring is $60.00 per hour, by the quarter hour. For example, a session 1.25hrs in duration will cost $75.00 (1.25hrs * $60.00/hr).
Drafting, if required, is charged at the hourly rate mentioned above.
Mock tests, examinations, and teaching materials are from $4.99 a piece.
We understand that schedules change, so sessions can be rescheduled with no fee if at least 12 hours notice is given. Cancellations made without valid reason, with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a fee to account for reserved tutor preparation time.
At Pupyl, we focus on genuine foundational mastery rather than quick fixes, ensuring students fully understand core principles before advancing. By combining deep curriculum expertise with proven study strategies, we equip students with the lasting skills and confidence needed to excel in their academic goals.
